Simple and tasty food.
Two weeks ago, the OH and I drove up to Lynden in Northern Washington to visit a wonderful hazelnut farm. Holmquist hazelnuts are located right beside the Canadian border -the edge of the orchard literally runs parallel to zero avenue in Canada.
It’s too lovely and warm to be stuck in the kitchen these days, so I am enjoying lots of summery salads with great Pacific Northwest ingredients. My favorite new snack is Salumi salami, which adds so much flavor to any dish, and also tastes great on its own.
Camping and s’mores are two things that are entirely new to me. When the OH brought up the subject of camping, I quickly tried to change the subject. I just never envisioned myself as the type of person that would like camping. In Ireland camping is divided into two … emm … camps.
I sometimes find it hard to believe that we actually live in America now. Sometimes my accent slips and I find myself speaking like an American without even thinking. The other day I had to look twice at the word colour, as I felt the ‘u’ looked like it didn’t belong there.
Despicable Me is one of my favourite animated films. It’s funny, dark, and distinctly different to a classic Disney animation. Gru is a complex cartoon character, and the minions are almost modern day oompa loompas. It’s full of fun and mad ideas, and the minions really steal the show.
