This salad is like summer on a plate. We recently took a visit to Lake Chelan in Eastern Washington, and it reminded me of the south of France as we drove by so many cherry orchards with glistening red cherries hanging from the trees.
These glossy, sticky, chocolate coated hazelnut financiers are the perfect afternoon indulgence. I know it may seem like I have a chocolate hazelnut obsession, ( Chocolate Hazelnut Torte, Chocolate Hazelnut Shortbreads, Chocolate Hazelnut Tart) but it’s just such a great flavor combination – I personally blame Nutella for fostering this flavor addiction during my formative years.
Barbecue season has well and truly started, and I thought I would share these quick and tasty chicken skewers. The chicken is marinated in some garlic, ginger, lime juice, coriander and soy sauce. The marinade and smoky barbecue flavor make these chicken skewers taste succulent and delicious.
I have to admit, I do like gin and tonics. I am pretty fussy though. There are only one or two brands of gin that I really like, I also like a lot of ice and there has to be a decent wedge of lemon. Lots of things to be excited about this week- cherries are in season, plus there are beautiful peony roses blooming in the garden. It really is the small things! Living in Washington means that we are blessed with the most delicious, sun ripened, sweet and juicy cherries.
